In light of the numerous scandals that have occurred in the country recently, the Foreign Ministry in Poland has come up with a new proposal.
It said that the country should tighten the visa system further and should also start charging higher fines from those who violate the rules.
The Proposal
The Foreign Ministry has made several recommendations in the proposal that it put forward.
These include making a drastic increase in the penalties that are imposed on companies employing foreign workers irregularly.
Companies that make false claims of requiring additional workers to bring foreigners in the country would also be subject to these penalties.
Furthermore, the Ministry also wants to put an end to the abuse of the visa system. Therefore, it wants to introduce stricter rules applicable to foreign students who wish to enter the country to study.
Likewise, the universities in Poland would also have to comply with stricter rules when dealing with foreign students.
The Ministry said that in order to prevent further abuse of the visa system. The authorities in the country should also check on foreigners frequently.
This applies to all foreigners entering the country, whether for study purposes, or for work.
The Penalties
As mentioned earlier, the Ministry has proposed that penalties applicable on Polish employers who are irregularly hiring workers be increased.
It has actually specified the amount as well. According to the Ministry, the penalties should be increased to €670.
Apart from that, the Ministry has also recommended a fine of €23,214 on companies helping foreigners enter Poland under the guise of employment.
The Ministry has stressed that they will be able to drastically reduce the number of visas that are issued to students and workers with the help of the new rules.
Stricter Rules for Student Visas
As far as student visas are concerned, the Foreign Ministry said that there will be now new requirements.
Foreign nationals would have to submit a certificate that proves they have completed secondary school. In addition, they should also know the language in which their program will be taught.
These requirements will be applicable on all who are applying for a student visa to study in Poland for the academic year 2026/2027.
It should also be noted that all foreign students entering Poland will be under supervision. The Integrated Information System on Higher Education & Science will maintain their data.
The aim is to ensure that no foreigners misuse their student visas in any way. Marek Sowa said that they automatically issued foreign visas and there had been no control over students.
However, it is now time to put an end to it. Poland has already reduced the number of visas that are issued to foreign students.
While specific numbers have not been shared by the authorities, they said that they rejected about one-third of the applications they received.
